How to use Solidworks Rx

Using Solidworks Rx Tools

RX simplifies troubleshooting by allowing users to easily show support teams exactly what's going wrong.

The main way to use the tool will be to have it docked on your taskbar and after a crash, open just the Rx and then capture the data. Follow the instructions below to set this up.

  1. In Solidworks, in the top right hand corner, under the question mark, open Solidworks Rx

  1. Now at the bottom of the screen, right click the Rx icon and ‘Pin to taskbar’.
    1. The next time Solidworks crashes, open this and only this and it will record the last session that crashed. If you open Solidworks then the Rx, then it will just record you opening a fresh Solidworks file.
  2. After opening the Rx after a crash you will want to click ‘Package Files…’
    1. If the crash is only happening in a single file make sure to ‘Add Files…’ and add that file to the package to send in. Everything helps when looking into crashes or bugs.

Another thing the RX can do is screen record. This means if you know how to make your file crash or break you can start recording, make the crash happen and it all gets recorded meaning the team can look into it and try to recreate the issue which is often a key step in diagnosing the issue.  This is saved and included in the ‘Package Files…’ command.

Once you have packaged all the files and information needed you will be left with a zip file, this needs to be sent to your support team or to Dassault and then the team can begin to investigate and hopefully find a fix for you.

Some common fixes may be to perform a clean reinstall or to reinstall your graphic drivers.
