Getting started in Solidworks

Getting Started in the Solidworks 3D Experience

In this article we will go through a few basics of the 3D Experience platform. This is designed for users of the Platform subscriptions as opposed to Desktop or Perpetual licences. We will start with logging in, accessing and reassigning subscriptions.

The simplest way to access the 3D experience is using this link - solidworks.com/pro-cloud - It is a generic link that will then redirect you to your own portal once logged in.
Now you are into your portal there is a lot going on for first time users, the best place to start is to click the Blue compass in the top left hand corner, from here find your Solidwork subscription either under My Roles or My Apps. This should also show in your Welcome tab.

Once installed you are good to start modelling! You can add a desktop shortcut which will speed up the process, although you may be asked to log in to this page from time to time or if you see you are running in Offline mode, then come back to this page and open Solidworks that way to reconnect everything.

If you notice any other issues or need to uninstall Solidworks, please take a look at this more in depth guide - https://support.cadsoftwaredirect.com/portal/en/kb/articles/clean-reinstall-of-solidworks

To reassign a subscription you will need to look for the 'Platform Management' or 'Members Control Center' in apps. If you do not have this then speak to the account owner to check where the Admin role is assigned to.

From there navigate to the Members tab, un-assign the roles from one user ready to reassign. Then find the member or use 'Invite Member' and assign them a role. If the user is new, they will have a invitation to create account/ accept being added and then they can access the subscription. If you need further guidance on this please reach out to your reseller as they will have full information on the roles you have and where they may be located.

** Please note: This can only be done once every 24 hours for that role, meaning to can move multiple around but thy each have their own cooldown.
