Sometimes when opening Solidworks connected via the desktop shortcut it will struggle to connect to the 3D Experience and here was have few options.
Note - you can use Solidworks connected offline but when you need/want to be connected these tips should get you up and running.
The first option should be to try opening Solidworks connected from your 3D Experience portal as well as do any updates to either the 3D Experience portal or to Solidworks Connected app.
After everything is up to date, restart your machine and you will hopefully reconnect but if not we have a few other ideas.
The second option should be to clear your Temp files but first ensure you have restarted your machine.
Any recent installations could hold onto a few files to finish the install and restarting your machine ensures that some apps that could be using the temp folder are not and any installations are completely finished.
Head to your C: Drive > Users > Your Username > AppData* > Local > Temp
Once you are in that folder it's best to select everything and then delete, you may get two different messages one regarding needing authorisation to delete these files and the others will not be able to be deleted as they are currently running in the background.
The best move is to tick the box that asks if you'd like to do the same action for all having the same issue as this will save you time as there is often hundreds of files in the Temp folders. It's best to skip the ones that are still running and delete the rest.
Temp files are safe to delete and by there nature are only meant to be temporary, if you are worried about deleting temp files speak to your company's IT team or reach out to the team here.
The last resort should be to perform a clean reinstallation of Solidworks connected as well as the 3D Experience. This will be time consuming and should be done as a last resort in this situation. We already have an article going into detail on
how to do this here.
