Resetting SketchUp Activations
If you are logging in to SketchUp and see 'You are using SketchUp on too many machines' or 'You have Exceeded your allowed activations', read on to see how to fix this.
- When you see the message above, click on the Manage activations button. This is the simplest way as there are two portals for SketchUp products. You can use the below links however one should be empty/showing the free products.
- https://accounts.trimble.com/products
- After clicking the button you will be taken to one of two portals, the Account Management Portal or the Admin Portal. (See here for the changes coming to SketchUp portals)
Account Management Portal (AMP) -
Admin Portal -
- This will need to be done in the user's account. An owner or admin cannot do this for the product users under the Admin account.
(If you don't see your assigned product, you may need to change from your personal, free or trial account to the purchased account (Purchased via CAD Software Direct) by clicking on the account name on the left . It may say Personal Account, or it may be a company name)
For the AMP, please follow the below:
- Go to 'My Products' on the left hand side.
- Click 'View Included Applications' as below. If you do not see this, you may need to switch accounts under your email address to the left.
- Click 'Manage Devices' next to the SketchUp item shown
- Click the "Deauthorize All" button.
Back in the SketchUp application, click on the small account icon in the top right corner, and sign out and in again. You should now be able to access SketchUp as normal.
For the Admin Portal, please follow the below:
- You should already be in the 'My Products' section but if not click the icon in the top right hand corner and select 'My Products'
- Look through the products for 'SketchUp for Desktop' and select 'Reset Authorised Devices'
- Continue with the onscreen popup to complete the deauthorisation
- Back in the SketchUp application, click on the small account icon in the top right corner, and sign out and in again. You should now be able to access SketchUp as normal.
