What is an AutoCAD LT Desktop Subscription?

In the last couple of years, Autodesk have moved their products away from a permanent/perpetual license structure to one with fixed subscription periods -  1 , 2 or 3 years.

There are various pros and cons of this system but they are often irrelevant as there is no longer an option to buy a permanent license. There are some tangible benefits from the subscription system, such as:

  • Costs can be spread.
  • A subscription always provides access to the latest software (as well as recent versions) - so it's no longer necessary to plan for upgrades.
  • You can use your software on any machine where you can log in with your Autodesk account. Your license can move with you.
  • If you manage a team of users, you can move licenses between users as their requirements change.
  • For short term projects, it's no longer necessary to buy full licenses.

How Do I Purchase an AutoCAD LT Subscription?

There are two places to buy from. You can go direct to Autodesk, or you can purchase from an AutoCAD LT Reseller. If you purchase an AutoCAD LT Subscription from a reseller, in addition to all the support you would normally receive from Autodesk, you have an extra level of support to help with purchase, license or setup queries.
