Mac Error Message: Can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer

 If you are experiencing the following error message on an Apple computer, please follow the instructions below.

"Application can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."

This message is generated by a security feature called Gatekeeper, which has been introduced in Mac OS 10.8.

Open the installer via the context menu -

  1. Right- or CTRL-click the download installer and choose Open from the context menu:
  2. The same warning message will appear but it will now have an Open option. Click to confirm that you wish to use the installer.
  3. The installation will now run as expected.
