For all versions of Solidworks, and most other software, you can only have the licence in-use on one machine at a time per licence.
Desktop Solidworks
- If you need to move the licence to another computer, you must transfer your key.
- This requires you to deactivate the licence from your current computer meaning if you forget to do this before going to work or lose the machine you will have to contact your reseller or Solidworks directly to have the key deactivated.
Platform Solidworks
- Since the platform version of Solidworks only requires a log in, this makes the licence much more flexible and able to float between machines.
- As long as Solidworks is closed on the other machine your licence is then ready to use on the next device.
- Your licence or Role can also be reassigned to a different user once every 24 hours allowing for even more flexibility.
