When installing Enscape and Chaos products a number of services need to run and be correctly installed and when one fails you may get errors, such as -496.
This error doesn't have a lot of information behind it but happens when there is an issue with the Unified Login part of Chaos and a reinstall of that should fix it.
Important notes
Ensure your host application and render software is closed (and Quit if on Mac)
We will be uninstalling and reinstalling the licence server along side this so if you are troubleshooting an error similar to this or with logging into Chaos services, some steps will overlap
On Windows, when installing ensure to Right-click and 'Run as Administrator'
Mac Instructions
First uninstall both the Unified Login and the VRLService
Go to Applications > Chaos > VRLService > Uninstall and run the uninstaller.
Application > Chaos > Unified Login > Uninstall and run the uninstaller
