Downloading / Installing V-Ray for SketchUp

After purchasing SketchUp Studio if you want to install V-Ray as a part of your package there is a slightly different method in comparison to purchasing/installing V-Ray separately.

First thing is to ensure you have opened and logged into SketchUp at least once on the version you are wanting to use V-Ray with.

To ensure you grab the correct installer head to your Trimble account  and inside of ’My Products’ and ‘View included applications’ you should have V-Ray (for Windows) with a download button

After you have downloaded that, head to your downloads and right click the installer and Run as Administrator. This is an important step as this will download the licence server alongside it which does require admin permissions to install correctly.

You will need to read and agree to the Terms and conditions, after this you will be asked which versions of SketchUp you want to install for, select what versions you want and then continue through the installer.

You should then be asked to log in and you must use ‘Continue with Trimble’

From here you should be able to use V-Ray inside of SketchUp but sometimes this can get stuck so before going into SketchUp head to http://localhost:30304/ and log in (Again using the ‘Continue with Trimble’ option).

After head to SketchUp and you will now be able to use V-Ray.
