BricsCAD Perpetual Licence changes
This is a notice about the important change to the BricsCAD Upgrade and Support Policy, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Customers who own perpetual licenses should be informed directly however this is still important information when deciding to go for a perpetual licence vs a subscription licence.
First some important notes:
- If you have an active subscription you will always have access to the latest version of BricsCAD and there is no changes here for those users.
- If you have a perpetual licence without maintenance then the only way you can access a new version of BricsCAD is by upgrading your licence or purchasing new, depending on the version. This is who the following changes will impact most.
What's changing?
Until December 31, 2025:
- Customers can continue upgrading any BricsCAD license from version V14 up to V25.
- Licenses from V1 to V13 remain non-upgradable, as previously announced in 2020.
Starting January 1, 2026:
- Customers will only be able to upgrade from the three previous versions of BricsCAD. For example, when V26 is released, only licenses on V25, V24, and V23 will be eligible for upgrade.
- Licenses on V22 and older will no longer be upgradable, however, customers can continue using them under the terms of their perpetual license.
Support Policy
To align with the new rules, the Support Policy will also change on January 1, 2026:
- BricsCAD will support the four most recent versions of BricsCAD which lines up with versions that are upgradable: V26, V25, V24, and V23.
- If you own a V14-V22 licence then you have until January 1st 2026 to upgrade. After that you will have to buy a new licence if you wish to receive support with BricsCAD or get the latest version.
